One of the last or first steps we can do to really get present is become aware of how we physically hold ourselves.
Over time we have developed ways we physically hold our bodies. These postures are the way we hold energy in our life.
If you want to become more present, identify the way you hold your body and where you’re holding tension, and begin to let go and release the tension in these areas.
Yoga is great for this, but you can also simply shake or loosen up the areas and break the pattern.
This is really powerful.
If you really study yourself, you will feel it and see it.
Do you hold your shoulders a certain way? Look at your face—how do you hold it, where are your wrinkles? How do they all change as you are less or more stressed?
Being conscious and aware of body positioning and posture is a great tool to become more present.
